Jim Demarest, Ph.D.

Jim is a biotech/pharma executive with extensive experience from drug discovery, preclinical, early/late clinical development and commercialization on a global scale. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Genetics Program at George Washington University while doing research in Dr Anthony Fauci’s laboratory at the NIH/NIAID. Following a post-doctoral fellowship at Duke University, he joined GlaxoWellcome/GSK and then was a founding member of the scientific and medical organization at ViiV Healthcare (launched in Nov 2009), an HIV-focused joint venture of GSK and Pfizer. After his 9-year tenure at ViiV, Jim worked at AbbVie Immunology and more recently has been advising academic, biotech, and pharma companies via his LLC, Mountaineer Bio. He is the lead/co-author on >100 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts/abstracts and a co-inventor on 3 patents.
